Susquehannock is extremely proud of the extraordinary staff we bring together each summer to work with your children. Talented athletes, experienced coaches, and gifted teachers,. many of our senior staff and cabin counselors grew up at camp and went through our own Counselor-in-Training program. Adding international flavor to your camper's experience, each year we recruit a number of counselors from university teaching and coaching programs all over the world. Regardless of where they come from or how many years they have been at Susquehannock, all staff are dedicated to the care and development of youth.

Camp Susquehannock Inc. is a 501c Non-Profit institution, and the organization's sole purpose is to provide extraordinary summer experiences for a diverse family of campers that come from all over the world. Operations are led by Administrator Tarryn Larson Rozen, who is supported by a board of trustees - all former campers or parents of campers. The day-to-day staff of the camp each summer is led by experienced site directors on each campus, with senior staff and cabin counselors primarily responsible for camper instruction and supervision.

The Camp Susquehannock Board of Trustees officers are President Liz Askew, Vice President Tony Meyers, Secretary Tom Gluck, and Treasurer Allan Shafer. Other board members include Past President Andrew Thalheimer, John Wineland, Jim Powell, Tom Kent, Jon Kulp, Bernie Lemonick, Anna Morgan Cassidy, Berbekka Hurtt, and Jim Lemonick.

Tarryn Larson Rozen, Administrator, Camp Susquehannock Inc.

Tarryn joined Camp Staff in 1998. She is from South Africa, and while at camp her first year, Tarryn met Eric Rozen (a veteran counselor at Camp Susquehannock for Boys) and the two were married in 2000.

Tarryn is a graduate of Pietermarizburg University in South Africa. She is in the process of completing her Masters in Educational Psychology. Tarryn lives with her family in Rochester, NY.

Joined Camp Staff in 1976, after 10 years as a camper. Former Counselor, Assistant Director. Win has been Director of S4B since 1993. Currently Varsity Golf Coach at Episcopal Academy (Merion, PA), and a Science teacher. Win is a licensed PIAA Soccer Official, and has also coached Ice Hockey and Soccer.

Win has a BS from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MA from Villanova University. Win lives with his wife Cannie and their family in Haverford, PA

Cannie Shafer, Co-Director of S4B

Joined Camp Staff in 1982. Former head of the Craft Shop at S4B and Assistant Director of S4G. Has been Co-Site Director of S4B since 2001. For many years , Cannie was Head of The Lower School at Devon, The Episcopal Academy. She is now the Assistant Head at the Episcopal Academy's new campus.

Cannie has an AB from Sweet Briar College and an MA from Villanova University. As an athlete at Sweet Briar, Cannie earned 12 varsity letters - in Lacrosse, Field Hockey, and Basketball. Cannie lives in Haverford, PA

John Pufky, Director, Susquehannock for Girls (hereinafter S4G)

Joined Camp Staff in 1995. John was a counselor for 5 years at the boy's camp, and returned with his wife Heather to help run S4G two summers ago. He currently coaches varsity Lacrosse and teaches 4th grade in Maine, NY.

John was a Div I All-American lacrosse goaltender in college. John and his wife Heather live outside of Binghamton with their daughter Jayden in Maine, NY.

Heather Pufky, Riding Program Director

Joined Camp Staff in 2005. Heather run the CIT and LIT programs at S4G, and served as co-director. She has also served as a horseback riding instructor. Following the birth of their first child, Heather expects to scale back a bit and focus exclusively on the riding program for 2007. During the rest of the year, Heather is a third grade teacher at Maine Memorial Elementary School in Maine, NY.

Heather is a graduate of Alfred University, where she majored in Elementary Education with minors in Science and Equine Studies. She was captain of the Equestrian team for two years.

Joined Camp Staff in 1979, after 4 years as a camper. Former Counselor in both the Hill and Junior Camps. A Classics teacher at the Episcopal Academy in Merion, PA, "TK" is Head Coach of the Varsity Boy's Tennis Team, named the best team in Pennsylvania by the Philadelphia Inquirer in 2006.

TK is a graduate of Hamilton College, where he played on the varsity tennis and squash teams. He and his wife Maude live in Ardmore, PA

Robert Kent, Program Director - S4B, Camp Webmaster

Joined Camp Staff in 1980, after 6 years as a camper. "RK" runs the day to day program at S4B. He has been Head Tennis Coach and Assistant Hockey Coach at the Marvelwood School in Cornwall, CT. A third degree black belt in Aikido, RK currently runs the Youth Program at Aikido West in Redwood City, CA under the Direction of Frank Doran Shihan, 7th Dan. He is also the founder of AikidoKids.com. He teaches Aikido and Ethics for the Philosophy department at Williams College each January.

RK has a BA from Williams College and an MA from Claremont Graduate School. He lives in Menlo Park, CA, where he does teen counseling and designs aerospace manufacturing systems.

Joined Camp Staff in 1999, after 9 years as a camper. Dan is Athletic Director and Head of the Waterfront at S4B.

Dan has a BS in Psychology and an M.Ed in Counseling from Penn State University, and is certified as a High School Guidance Counselor. Dan is Counselor and Varsity Soccer coach at The Preparatory Charter High School in Philadelphia.

Joined Camp Staff in 2007. Trish joins us this year having heard about camp all her married life - as her husband Tim Percevecz was an 11-year Susquehannock veteran in the 70's and 80's. Trish was a camp counselor during college out in Colorado, where she taught canoing and mountain climbing.

Trish lives with her family in McKinney, Texas, where she teaches World Geography at McKinney-Boyd High School.

George "Buff" Weigand

Joined Camp Staff in 1948. "Buff" currently serves as Camp Grandfather-in-Residence. He has served Susquehannock as a counselor, as Head of the Hill Camp, and as Head of the Junior Camp. An experienced teacher, Buff is currently retired following a long and distinguished career at the William Penn Charter School, Philadelphia, PA. Prior to Penn Charter, Buff taught at several schools, including Saint Andrews in Maryland. He has coached soccer, baseball, and basketball, and is an accomplished official.

Over the last year, Buff has sold his home outside Philadelphia and moved into one of the lakeside cottages as a full time residence.

Katie MacNabb, Head of Waterfront - S4G

Joined Camp Staff in 2002, after 9 years as a camper. Katie has worked each of her previous summers on the waterfront as a lifeguard and swim instructor. She also coaches Lacrosse.

Katie is a super-senior at the University of New Hampshire, where she rows crew and majors in Recreational Management and Kinesthesiology. Katie lives in Glenwood, MD.

Joined Camp Staff in 1986. Maude runs the Tennis Program for all Junior Campers, and helps coordinate round robin competition events with other camps and local tennis programs.

Joined Camp Staff in 2005, after 8 years as a camper. Nora represents the 4th generation of her family to work at Susquehannock - thru two different family lines, as one great grandfather was Camp Susquehannock founder George Carlton "King" Shafer, and another was a counselor from 1918-1920. Nora graduated from the Hun School of Princeton, where she played lacrosse and tennis. She is a sophomore at Davidson College, where she rows crew.

Dr. Peter Cubberley, MD, Camp Doctor

Dr. Peter Cubberley, beloved member of the Susquehannock family, passed away January 2, 2008. He was 76 years old. He spent more than 25 summers at Susquehannock. Our thoughts and prayers are with Martha, his wife, and their children and grandchildren, many of whom have spent summers at camp. More details here.

Joined Camp Staff in 1983, having attended camp as a child many years before. Dr. Cubberly is a retired physician in Cleveland, OH, where he volunteers with the Free Clinic and was nominated for the Cleveland Brown's "Community Quarterback" public service award. Dr. Cubberly resides by the lake at S4B, and either he or the camp nurse are on campus at all times.

Josh joined Camp Staff in 2001. "JoshO" is a weekend warrior this summer - working a "real world" job during the week, and arriving here each weekend to help with Hockey clinics, event hosting, and general morale support.

Josh majored in Russian and Eastern European Studies at Albany University. He is past president of the Albany chapter of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and retired as the only undefeated goaltender in the Great Danes hockey team's history.

Lucas Carmalt

Joined Camp Staff in 2003, after 7 years as a camper. Lucas coaches Lacrosse, Soccer, Canoeing, and Frolf.

Lucas graduated Valedictorian at Elmira Notre Dame, where he played soccer and lacrosse. He is a senior at Washington and Lee University, where he plays ultimate frisbee. He joins the special staff roster this summer because he is spending most of the summer in an engineering internship and will only be with us for the last week.

Briana O'Riordan

Joined Camp Staff in 2006. Briana joins us this summer as a nanny for John and Heather Pufky. Briana is an English Ph.D candidate at Vanderbilt University.
